Puno is on the coast of Lake Titicaca and at a higher altitude than Cusco.  I was just getting adjusted to the previous elevation and now it has been increased. I didn't think this would be an element that I would have to seriously contend with.  I guess I was wrong on that.

This morning I joined fellow travelers on a boat headed out to see the Islands on Lake Titicaca. Our first stop was the Floating Islands.  These are Islands that actually float.

As we pulled up, the ladies sang songs to greet us.  Afterwards, the president of our Island came to do demonstrate on how the Island is built and maintained and an even funnier demonstration on what happens if they decide if they don't like their neighbors (they disconnect their anchor and float away) or if there is a dispute on one island (they can cut the island in half). They also talk about what they eat and grow on the islands.

Since the island is mainly made of reeds, you definitely feel as if your foot can and will go through at any moment and when a boat goes by, you feel the island bob up and down.
