January 24, 2010 Up for an early wake up call. I got some rest but found that it was hard to sleep at the altitude. We headed out to the Sacred Valley - not too far from Cusco. In the morning we visited a couple of touristy markets in Pisac and then to Ollantaytambo, an Inka town still inhabited. We stopped along the way and I found a place that baked empanadas. Check out that oven!
We stopped of for lunch at this beautifully situation restaurant. It was a buffet and on it was alpaca and Corn Pudding - which was puprle.
Our next stop was the temple of Ollantaytambo an Incan temple. This was the highlight of the day and I climbed it!
Demonstration of weaving, which turned out to be pretty interesting. They showed how to clean the wool, spin the wool and then die it using natural ingredients.
